The great oceans of spirit, like the sea meeting the shore, come into physical being or existence in a very fluid way that can easily be disrupted by the environment. In the case of the beach, the sand could be disrupted by children, wind or rain. In the early stages of organic creation there is great space or potential for metamorphosis. It comes with an impulse that may be very clear but when it emerges into matter it is influenced by the forces it meets and may change a little or very greatly. An Idea or physical creation such as a seed can meet a welcoming environment and be nurtured and nourished or it might meet criticism or lack of nourishment if there is drought or other harsh physical influences.
The power of the impulse also has a determining factor, just as a very strong wave demands the sand take on certain forms. A gentle lapping wave does not mould the sand in the same way. The wave may even be moulded by the sand and flow in the pattern of the channels children have built around their sand castles.
The shape of the curve in the picture is exquisite and if carved in stone would remain for a very long time and take strong or very persistent forces to wear it down or disrupt it. Whilst in sand it could be changed with the slightest input changing the position of the sand grains and the sculpture. It is important for new beginnings to have time to adapt and emerge in ways that meet the time and space in which it emerges. Also important is that it becomes more solid and dependable over time and thus it becomes the impulse in physical reality. It cannot stay forever sand or it will be blown or washed away like the house built on the sand in the biblical story.
It also illustrates how over time when things become fixed like a rock sculpture it takes a major upheaval to change and that is what we are living in this moment. A very strong impulse blowing up the old ways of organizing and living in our social, political and economic structures.
