TASMANIAN SINGING WORKSHOP

BEFRIENDING THE SOUNDS WE SING

A Singing Workshop To Explore & Unfold Your Unique Voice

What is your favorite vocal music?  Ohm, rock, folk, jazz, opera or one of the many other styles of singing or toning. All of these use a set of sounds.  When you befriend these sounds through the exploration of your own musical instrument you have the foundations for musical vocal creation.

This workshop will give you this foundation and the tools to continue exploring and expanding your connection to your own unique voice and creative expression.  For hesitant singers it is a place to begin and for the more experienced a way to expand and grow your potential.

Sat 21st & Sun 22nd May

In Sheffield Uniting Church Hall

Led by Elizabeth McKay a long time explorer & teacher of singing from Melbourne.

About Elizabeth: My initial preparation for this work was far from musical; Sciences, counseling, community development, teaching and motherhood. The birth of my son awoke the sensible decision to teach children because we’d have the same holidays. In the teacher training I meet the modern lyre and my life turned on its head. I knew instantly music was my future. At 38 my musical training began with year 12 music.  I could play no instrument to the level required and so I had to sing.  It was a crash landing in a foreign world. I didn't dream it would lead to the most magical world of singing and vocal musical sound and its power for fun, wellbeing, community building and transformation.

Lifecycle Sessions

Lifecycle work is an emerging modality that honours the feminine form of movement in harmony with the seasons and cycles of life. The masculine path of setting goals and planning a course to attain them does not allow for the meeting of life as it emerges. Every mother knows that no amount of goal setting works when you have a 3 year old who has to go to the toilet NOW. By acknowledging the need to work with what emerges, this work provides greater freedom to explore the full breadth of our calling.

You may have been pushed by a crisis or perhaps something new calls you to do more in life. What is this calling? How do you find the path to this new work or dream? When our heart calls, all our Being – physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual – needs to come into alignment to birth or manifest our new life path. Lifecycle work can give you insight into your true purpose by bringing together many methods and modalities to ensure all of you finds expression.
